December 20, 2017
If you’re approaching another year with eating wise and exercise in mind but are doubting your self-discipline, it may be time to try a new approach. Losing weight is one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions and one of the most difficult to stay committed to but there are ways you can trick your body into burning calories. Outdoor adventures such as hiking, biking, and kayaking can provide you with ample exercise that occurs naturally as you reach new summits, make your way through rivers and lakes, and bike along canyon pathways. Here are some locations we recommend for outdoor exercise that will help you achieve your goals in 2018!
Moab, Utah is known for its hiking and biking trails but the kayaking and canoeing options are also abundant. The Colorado River has sections suited for all skill levels and companies like the Moab Adventure Center offer rafting and paddle board tours that will help you feel the burn as explore the surrounding gorge.
The Oregon Coast is another destination full of every type of outdoor adventure you could imagine. Sunset Bay State Park has some breathtaking views and memorable trails such as the popular path that ends at Cape Arago State Park and its iconic lighthouse. The 8.5 mile out and back trail is not a strenuous hike but will help you get in your steps for the day while you enjoy the unparalleled beauty of the Oregon Coast.
As one of the biggest state parks in the nation, the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park has become a popular destination for stargazers, hikers, off-road enthusiasts, and motorcyclists but the area also offers a number of cycling trails; 333 to be exact! Whether you plan to start small and embark on a 5-mile ride or tackle a ride that exceeds 100 miles, you can reach all of your fitness goals as you enjoy the serenity and beauty of the desert.
With Highway West Vacations locations in close proximity to all of these outdoor destinations, we wish you the very best in your pursuit of 2018’s goals and hope that you’ll join us for a memorable stay as you enjoy working out in the wild!
