Summer Events In Southern Washington – Cowlitz County Fair

June 28, 2016

If you are looking for some old-fashioned fun and are planning on visiting our Silver Cove RV Resort or Southern Washington between July 27th and 30th, you may want to plan on checking out the Cowlitz County Fair!

A major component of the fair is the Thunder Mountain Pro Rodeo. Since 1975, the organization has worked alongside the county fair to provide high quality cowboy/cowgirl contestants and livestock, talented bullfighters, and top notch entertainment complete with the classic comedic stylings of rodeo clowns. For more information on this portion of the fair, visit

The carnival is another major piece of the Cowlitz County Fair puzzle. Classic carnival rides, games, and food add a whole other layer to the fun. There is even a list of free entertainment that outlines which complimentary activities visitors can look forward to which includes the carnival and the fair itself!

The rodeo provides the grandstand entertainment July 28th-30th so the fair has arranged for musical performances on the night of July 27th. Chase Bryant and Cort Carpenter will be hitting the stage with their modern country music stylings and tickets start at just $20! For more information, visit

A county fair is not complete without exhibitors displaying their prized agriculture, art, photography, flowers, and livestock in a battle for first prize. The judges will pick their favorites from each category including competitions that involve horse western games, rabbit, beef, poultry, sheep, swine, and dairy goat showmanship, a logging rodeo, and much more. For a full list of exhibitions and competitions, take a look at the Exhibitor Handbook.

Whether you are a seasoned fairgoer or are looking to experience something new, this county fair represents “the best of town n’ county”! For more information, visit

If you are planning on making the trek to the fair, why not take a load off at Silver Cove RV Resort? We are happy to host you!
