Super Bloom in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park – Things To Know
March 18, 2017
We’re sure you have heard about the Super Bloom that is spreading across Southern California’s deserts. Right now, our Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort and Borrego Valley Inn locations, are surrounded by beautiful wildflowers! Red, yellow, pink, white, and purple flowers have painted the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, creating a dreamlike landscape unlike any seen in the area for years.
The recent rains in Southern California are responsible for the extra impressive array of wildflowers and you don’t have to just take our word for it. The photos on Facebook or the articles written by NPR, The Huffington Post, or CNN, are only a few sources that begin to explain and show just how incredible this Super Bloom is.
Now that you have seen photos, you are probably itching to jump in your car or RV and drive down to see these flowers as quickly as possible. We don’t blame you one bit! But, there are a few things to consider before embarking on your journey to Borrego Springs. This small town is typically known for its serenity but with a huge influx of visitors expected to arrive throughout the rest of the month, we recommend the following:
- Check traffic reports often as traffic has been backing up at various entry points.
- Do your homework! With the large number of visitors, there are only so many rangers, chamber of commerce employees, and locals that can guide you to where the most pristine wildflowers can be seen.
- Make reservations or check availability for overnight stays before traveling. Many of the area’s hotels and campgrounds are at maximum capacity. Making reservations at local restaurants wouldn’t hurt either!
We hope that you’ll stop and smell the flowers in Borrego Springs and visit our Highway West Vacations Blog for the best in camping and glamping!
